A Hobbit Scavenger Hunt

This Friday as part of their homeschooling, I decided to come up with the idea of a scavenger hunt for my siblings. But not just any scavenger hunt, the most amazing amazingly awesome hunt that they have ever been on. We are huge fans of the Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, The Chronicles of Narnia, etc., so I decided to incorporate that into our school lesson for the week. What my siblings don't know is that they will also be learning about science, nature, following instructions, teamwork, history, and just having fun. It is going to be a lot of fun and I hope the enjoy it! There will be a prize for the winners and for those who came in second place, because here we are all winners and I think it only fair everyone earns a prize. Oh how I cannot wait for this Friday to come and it will be here soon!
Pictures will soon follow, and I really love the way the list turned out! I think they are gonna have a blast!

An Epic Journey Awaits!

I am going on an adventure!!!!

What a list, I didn't make the Scavenger Hunt that long.

A busy Weekend

It's been a busy weekend of working for me, and honestly it never even feels like I have a weekend to myself anymore considering I do have to work every single one. I don't like it, but such is this season of life right now and it will be over before I know it considering I am studying to become a special education teacher. But as of this moment I am just quietly sitting and doing some lesson planning for my siblings so that I will at least be slightly ahead of the week and make it look like I know what I am doing. I honestly didn't realize how much I enjoy teaching, planning, and just being with children, although it can be physically and mentally draining, it is well worth it.
There was a time not long ago I wanted to be a writer, but the field is not only competitive, it seemed to suck the fun out of writing because I just enjoy reading and writing so very much. Maybe when I retire I'll become a world-famous writer, but as of now I am content with where God has led me, and I can do my writing on the side when I relax and unwind for the day.
Tomorrow I have a full day off from work but then I have work the next three days, a day off and work the next two days, so I am taking full advantage of all my extra time. It feels good knowing I can rest, does it feel that way for you guys?
Looks a piece of pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting is calling my name, along with a cup of tea and watching The Hobbit The Desolation of Smaug Extended Edition!

And here is what we will be learning in our homeschool this week. Grades 1-2 for the younger ones, and grades 3-5 for the older ones.

My, oh my, how time has flown by.

Well it has been well over 4 months since I have last posted anything at all on this blog, and for that I am truly sorry about. But I have been so busy with work and just life in general that I have forgotten this poor blog and I feel dreadful knowing that I've left it idle for so long. But hopefully that will change soon probably after the Christmas season has passed considering the fact it can get crazy busy around this time of year. We also had to move to a new house, we are still in North Carolina as of right now and I do hope after the new year that we will be able to move back up north, but I really don't want to get into that story right now because it is just too much and I don't want to discuss it. On a more positive note though, Autumn seems to have finally arrived here in North Carolina! New England is already nice and cold, but it does seems to take forever for it to get colder down here, although the past week has been nice and chilly. I love the cooler weather as I am a miserable person when it is hot outside... Not a pretty picture. Anyways I am rambling way too much, but I do have so many pictures to share though and I am feeling very inspired by a lot of blog posts that I've been reading lately.

Unfortunately I was not there for the pumpkin carving,
but these are the pumpkins my family carved for Halloween!

 They did an amazing job.

Oh how I just love Autumn!

As the months have gone by, I've been doing a lot of thinking, praying, and researching what I want to go to school for, it has been a long journey, and now I do believe I know what I want to go to school for. I've thought about it many times but always passed over it thinking how could I ever make enough money (worldly thoughts that I just over-analyze too much) I was just always in competition with the world and I despised myself even more for it. But I prayed and God seems to be leading me into this direction, of becoming an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher. I used to work with children with special needs and I loved teaching them and watching them grow. And I am getting in some good practice helping my siblings and being my Mom's teacher assistant :) I do love it, and I hope next year I will be able to start my classes and be well on my way! I didn't realize how much I actually enjoyed teaching until God opened my eyes to see it and to show me that this was why he kept me home and didn't allow me in a way to go off to school. It was so I wouldn't make a very foolish mistake on one of the biggest decisions in my life. And I am so very happy that I obeyed him, and it helped to have the support of my family, friends, and wonderful bloggers to encourage me to stay strong and keep pressing on.
Now I have another important question... do I do online classes, or do on-campus classes? I know with online I will be doing some on-campus classes, but I also want to work so I'll have to juggle both. Which do you thing would be better? Any suggestions are much appreciated!!

So Much to Do

I have been so very busy these past few months that I have barely had the chance to blog about anything really, and I have missed it so very much. Work has taken up most of my time lately, along with other activities, and hanging out with my family that blogging was put off to the back burner so that I could adjust to my schedule. And now that I have organized my work schedule and life schedule to better coincide with one another, I am happy to say that I will start blogging again! It feels good to allow the words to flow from my mind, to my fingers and onto the screen as it's been almost 4 months since doing so.
As I said I am working hard almost 30 hours per week at the moment and I have finally saved up enough money to fix up my Mom's SUV which will now become my car!! WOOT WOOT!!! So I am super excited about all of that good stuff. Next I want to say that we will be moving back up North!! Where exactly I am not quite sure but I will give the roundabout area as soon as all of that is decided. And by next year I hope to be attending college which I am absolutely thrilled with, it will most likely be online classes but nevertheless it will benefit me as I also want to work while attending as well.
There have also been holidays and many birthdays that have passed since during my 4 month hiatus and all of those were so much fun to be apart of. My siblings are growing up wayyyy too fast if you ask me and I don't like it because then I feel old :).

Work, work, work!

Hey everybody! I have not been able to post regularly due to my new hectic work schedule, I am extremely grateful to have this job, but boy am I sure busy! Between family, work, exercising, and just life in general I have not had much time for anything else, it's all good though. I have just begun my new job in retail at Cracker Barrel (yay!) and I am hoping to work my up to hostess within the next 30-60 days, and then eventually graduate to server because they make some pretty awesome tips and get more hours. I'll update more when I can, although I'm not so sure when that will be haha! Oh well, at least I have a job now and can start working towards my goals!

Blessings,

Cheyenne

An afternoon spent at Bentonville

Sunday afternoon was absolutely gorgeous and it was too wonderful a day to be spent indoors or just at home in general. After lunch we packed up the family in to the SUV and made the hour long trip out to Bentonville which I thought awesome. The drive was peaceful, the views of the farmlands was lovely and the problems of the world just seemed to melt away even if it was only for a few hours, it was a few hours well spent. Bentonville is a historic battle site in North Carolina and it was one of the last battles fought between Union Maj. Gen. William T. Sherman and Confederate Gen. Joseph E. Johnson. If you would like to read more then just click here. It was a great historical field trip for the kids and I just enjoyed it in general, it really is a nice way to spend a lazy afternoon day.

FIRE!!!!!!!!

Off to the rail we go!

AHHH! It's a Hobbit Hole!

Sand soft as the beach was too much a temptation for my siblings and before I knew it they were all playing in it.

The trenches were pretty neat, you couldn't go on them but it was cool looking at them.

Over the bridge and through the woods.... well where on earth should we go?

That is such a Faith smile ;)

There are so many different trails to choose from and trails that lead to other trails, it just keeps going on.

Brayden playing in the sand.

Battle information, I loved stopping to read these all along the trail.

I wander what he was thinking at that moment.

Eden giggling, and completely barefoot mind you. I had to carry piggy back all the way to where she was there.

A small pile of pinecones Seth had gathered while we were there. But these were no small pinecones, they were massive and dangerous, you definitely don't want to get hit with one of these in the head. I wonder if the soldiers used these as weapons?

To the soldiers whose names are forever left unknown, their poor families what were they going through at that time? Never knowing if this was your son, brother, cousin, uncle, father or friend.

They just recently found these graves and placed headstones to mark and honor these soldiers who fought in the Civil War.

Beautiful yet dreadful all at the same time.

A poem with so much emotion entwined through it.

A marker representing all those lost at the Bentonville Battlefield.

Jacob wanting his photo taken and I say he was one handsome little boy :)

It was lovely being able to spend the day with my family as I will be starting work next Monday so my days will be filled with more work and not too much time spent with them. But it just means that I am beginning my life, and God is leading me to places I never even dreamed of. I have big plans for my life and I cannot wait until I can but my own car, get an education, and probably travel across the United States, and maybe even Ireland? Who knows!!

The Grand opening of Bass Pro!

I cannot wait for the grand opening of Bass Pro tomorrow! We haven't been to a Bass Pro or Cabela's in almost a whole year, and that is much too long for us to be away from the one thing that we enjoyed the most. My family and I are outdoor people, and back in Rhode Island we used to visit Bass Pro at least once a month and Cabela's at least once every three months or so because that one was a bit farther from our home. But when we moved down here to North Carolina, my uncle informed us that there wasn't a single one of these in the area he lives!! Although we were sad about all of this it wasn't the end of the world of course it was only a Bass Pro but the excitement we have over the fact that there is one that is going to be opening up tomorrow, well it's just too much! It's only a short distance from where we live and hopefully this weekend if all goes well, my family and I will be able to explore the new shop. It is going to be quite an experience and we are all well pleased with the blessings God has bestowed upon our family.

Totally awesome!!

Blessings,
